COHO May Meeting Friday May 4th at Tony Aguirre CC

May's Monthly meeting will be held at the Tony Aguirre Community Center next Friday at 8am. Haz una click aqui for last month's meeting minutes and for the May agenda

Superintendent Tony Amato will be present to discuss school closings on May 4th and Carlos Gomez, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will give information on activities and initiatives of the Chamber.

Please bring information regarding Cinco de Mayo activities that your organization is planning.

This Saturday, April 28th, KC Hispanic News spearheads Cesar Chavez activities to be held on Guadalupe Center, Inc. premises at 1015 Avenida Cesar Chavez.

David Chavez, Latinpointe, also sent the following: "This Saturday, Topeka, KS plays host to Mexico's musical icons Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan direct form Mexico City. The internationally renowned Mariachi Vargas will make a rare Topeka, KS performance at the American Airlines Mariachi Spectacular Concert on Saturday, April 28th at the Topeka Performing Arts Center. Vargas last performance in Topeka was more than 10 years ago. The Concert begins at 7:30p.m. with an opening performance by singing sensation Nydia Rojas from Los Angeles, California, Over 1,200 music fans will be in attendance. " Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com or by contacting David at dchavez@latinpointe.com


Tuesday May 1st, a march/walk is being organized by the Sons & Daughters of Immigrants, The flyer and other info is posted on the KC Blue Blog.
* Meeting at 4pm Avenida Cesar Chavez in front of Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine 5pm March begins: Taking Summit-Southwest Blvd -Pershing -Washington Square Park located in front of Westin Crown Center.
* 6pm will be hearing from community leaders, youth leaders and children and signing postcards and calling Senators to Vote NO against HJR7 , HB269, and SB348.

* Parking available at Crown Center, Union Station and Streets.

Guadalupe Center is holding their annual Cinco de Mayo on Friday, May 4th & Saturday, 5th. They will hold a concert dance & art gallery from 5p.m. - 10:30p.m. on Friday, May 4th, a community fiesta on Saturday, May 5th from 11a.m. to 9p.m. and on Sunday, May 6th, will sponsor a Mariachi Mass celebration from 12p.m. - 3p.m.

El Centro is sponsoring a Health Walk at Emerson Park in KCK on Saturday May 5th at 10a.m. in the morning.

April COHO Meeting

Hola!
The April meeting of the Coalition of Hispanic Organizations will be held this Friday morning, April 6, 2007 at 8am at the Tony Aguirre Community Center, 2050 West Pennway, KCMO. Agenda for the meeting can be accessed by una clique aqui There are no March meeting minutes due to Hispanic Day in Topeka. February minutes can be accessed by otra clique aqui

Normally COHO meetings are held in Kansas in even number months and in Missouri in odd numbered months. However since the Argentine Community Center is closed this Friday, April's meeting will be in Missouri.

, newly appointed President of the Hispanic Chamber of GKC regarding recent initiatives of the Chamber

Lorenzo Rubio, father of Zach Rubio whose case gained national attention last year in the Turner School District - update on the current status of their case.

Mike Macias, newly appointed Director LULAC NESC about LNESC's continued services
