Thank you y Mil Gracias to all who turned out this morning to attend the COHO meeting and to those members who stayed for the closed session requested by the Civil Rights committee.
Two resolutions were voted on by the member organizations present during the closed session. Those resolutions will be posted in a separate entry.
In the meantime, there were three announcements that I was asked to convey to COHO members at the end of and shortly after the meeting. They are listed below.

El Centro, Inc. has hired a new Policy Associate, Kara Linewebber. Kara will begin work on August 20.

from Brother Dale Mooney, Cristo Rey School:
Cristo Rey has several students that have not yet been placed with employers and are offering their services to COHO affiliated organizations free of charge. I am sure that just about everyone has some office work that can be done that we have been putting off. Please consider giving an opportunity to one of these students. Orientation at your location, which consists of discussing expectations, instruction on work to be performed and a review of policies that apply, will be held on August 13 or 14th. These students are available from 8:30 to 4:30 for 8 hour days of work from August 22 until they are placed in a paying job. If you can use a person one day a week, you would be assigned one student; if you can use help 2 days a week, you would be assigned 2 students, etc.

Hi -
Wanted to let you all know that every Saturday, from 11:00 - 12:00, we
will be having a mini-demonstration at the JC Nichols fountain to hold up
signs and pass out information about the positive contributions of immigrants
and the need for a change in the laws. We'd love to have you join us, any
time.
Dream Act is a hot issue right now and so we're trying to get kids out
- if you know any college kids or high school kids, bring them out or pass
this information along. One hour of fun....on a lovely Saturday morning.
Look for Steve Sheridan - he'll be the guy with a small black & white dog
and he'll have all the signs.
DREAM ACT is alive and may be submitted for consideration in September
- we need to keep attention on it, spread the word, and get something
positive passed this year on immigration.
We have several groups that are working towards this goal - All Souls
UU Immigration Task Force, People of Faith for Hospitality & Justice,
MO/KS CARAB, AILA, Missouri Immigrant Refugee Association, and more. Come out and have fun, learn, and educate others.
